It was exactly 8 monhs ago on the 12th. Ray and I were enjoying our Saturday Afternoon. We first walked up to the Library to get a book, and return our other ones. On the way home we stopped at Gunters Lawn and Garden and got a tomato for our hamburgers we were making for lunch. Mmm.. there's nothing like a hamburger on the bbq!!! After lunch I talked to my mother-in-law on the phone. She was telling me that I needed to pack my bag for the hospital just in case, I agreed but I didn't do it. Silly me. After I got off the phone with my MIL Ray and I decided to go on another walk I told him lets try to get to Alco (which is on the other side of town.) We stopped by Taco Time on our walk and I got a Raspberry-Banana Smoothie and we got cinnamon crisps. Ok, so I am not going to go into detail for the rest.. Sorry. We almost made it to Alco, then headed back home....
Later that night....
We went to bed around 9-9:30ish a few minutes later I felt a little "pop" and then a tingle went to my feet, went to the bathroom and a little GUSH!! Ok Ok a HUGE GUSH!
Told Ray I thought my water had broken and he said "are you sure?" I said.. "well it's never happened before, so I'm not possitive" and then he said "well, just go back to bed!" Silly man. So, I called my sister. She told me that it was most likely my water and that I needed to go to the hospital.. I woke up Ray and told him we had to go to the hospital so he got up and got dressed. I wasn't having any contractions yet... So I was able to walk around besides the fact that I was leaking fluid like CRAZY!! I should have packed my bag like my MIL said.. cuz I was running around the house trying to figure out what I needed to bring. Oh, my legs were shaking like crazy too. So we get to the hopital and get settled in. Our families were on their way. The Dr checks me.. and I'm not even dialated to a ONE!!! So, they get me hooked up on the IV and tell me to get some rest.. Ha! Ya right! I have so many mixed emotions going on. Anxiety, Nerves, Excitement, and I was a little scared... Finally morning came it was about 8, and the DR came to check me again and I was a 1-2 GRR.. This little guy didn't want to come out. So, they induced me put me on PIT and said they would be back in a few hours. A few hours later I was a three.. So I was dialating 1 cm every couple of hours. At about 2 o'clock I was almost a 6, so they let me get an epidural. YAY! So, I was feeling a bit better after I got my epidural. I stopped breathing really hard and wiggling my toes (I do that when I am in pain) Life was GOOD.. -A Few hours later- It was approximately 10 o'clock and the Dr said that I was fully dialated and I could try pushing. So I did... and I pushed, and pushed, and pushed, and pushed.. For TWO HOURS!!! They used the vacuum on my little man and he just was not coming down. AGH.. I was BEGGING for help. I couldn't do it anymore. I had been without food for over 24 hours. I had been without sleep for over 24 hours also. I had no energy. I BEGGED and PLEADED for help of any kind. So they got me ready for a C-Section.
I got into the O.R and they got me all prepped brought Ray in by my side and was ready to start cutting. In the O.R they pinch your belly before they cut to make sure that you are numb.. well, I wasn't. I felt pinches. Everytime they pinched me I felt it. They even tried tricking me. Then when they finally got one side numb, I could feel the other side. So they tilted the OR bed to try to get the anesthetic to the side that wasn't numb, and it would get numb so they thought all was well, then they pinched the side that was numb first and all of a sudden, it wasn't numb anymore. After a few times of trying back and forth they just had to start.. I felt it ALL!!! Because the babe was in the birh canal, I had a nurse up inside of me trying to push his little head back up toward the abdomin while the doctor was straddling me PULLING him out. But after all the pain and tears, we welcomed a teeny tiny baby boy into the world. At 12:27 AM Daxton Ray Philips took his first breath. Weighing 6lbs and 15oz 20.5 inches long.
I don't remember much after I heard him cry because they put me under general anesthesia so that they could sew me up.
I woke up around 3:00 AM in the recovery room, and I officially met my baby boy. They first thing I asked was what color of hair he had.. Ray and the nurses said he has a TON of blonde hair. So I had to take off his little hat and see for myself. They were right. His hair was all blonde (about the color of his Uncle Jerry's) and atleast 3 inches long. He was so beautiful.
While Dax was in the hospital, he always had a scowl on his face and we joke that he scowls all the time because he had such a rough entrance.
Despite the long and hard time it took to get him here, I don't regret any minute.
I love you Daxton, more that you will ever know. You are my happiness. Thank You for being you!
